This is a Tintype photo of my 3rd great grandmother Catherine taken in the late 1840's. I am not sure of her age here, but she apparently is a young woman. This photo has been preserved in our family for over a century. We have many more like it of a variety of ancestors. This may very well be one of our oldest. Although I never knew Catherine, I am so pleased that I have a photo of her. Being my own family's historian, I have taken great interest in the compilation and preservation of our family portrait collections. I believe a portrait is not just a "snapshot of a person" but an imprint in time. Our imprint. The portraits that we take and share of our families and ourselves have the same potential to live on for centuries. The careful selection of poses and printing can be our own "time traveling" device that can carry us through decades of our family's history. All of the images I order are printed with the utmost quality using Fujicolor Crystal Archive Professional Paper Super Type PD with a standard archival value of 100 years in home display; 200 years in dark storage. And even longer if well preserved. Be a part of your own family's archival of portraits. Ask me how!
